Reasons to Give a Self-Care Gift

Wondering why a self-care box makes a good gift? I’m glad you asked!

Whether it’s a gift to yourself or to someone else, there are plenty reasons to give the gift of self-care - read on for just a few of them.

It makes people feel good
You know that feeling you get when you do something nice for yourself? When you allow yourself to slow down, make time to have a pamper night, do something you enjoy, or just relax. It feels nice to treat yourself. When you do this, you increase your sense of self-worth. The simple act of taking care of yourself tells your brain that you value your own well-being.

Now imagine you receive a gift from a loved one that includes items designed for such a pamper night; created specifically to improve your well-being. Now your brain is receiving information telling you that your loved one also values your well-being. I don’t know about you, but I think that’s a wonderful feeling.

Everyone deserves me-time
Everyone deserves to have a little slice of tranquillity on a regular basis, no matter what that looks like for them. It’s an important part of stress relief and stress management that sometimes gets overlooked. Often people think they don’t have time for self-care or don’t believe it will make a significant difference to their stress levels. But, while one night of self-care may not solve all your problems, practising it regularly can make a big difference to your overall well-being, mood, stress levels, and can significantly improve your quality of life.

And, since a lot of people might not think to treat themselves to self-care, receiving a self-care gift could be the little push they need to start incorporating it into their daily routine.

It can improve mental health
As we’ve learned already, self-care can reduce stress-levels. Stress plays a huge part in poor mental health, and it’s easy to let it build up to the point where you feel like you’re going to burst. Either that or you end up taking your stress out on people around you or even just on yourself. Little habits every day can help you manage that. Even if it’s just a small thing, that small thing is helping you to release a little pressure, therefore easing your built-up stress and preventing you from bursting or lashing out. Practising this over time establishes good mental habits that can lead to vastly improved mental health and well-being.

It’s thoughtful
Think about who you might buy a self-care gift for. I’d imagine it would either be for you or for a loved one. Either way, the recipient will likely appreciate a gift that’s had thought put into it. Wouldn’t you? It makes you feel seen and understood by someone if you receive a gift from them that you know they’ve spent time picking specifically because they know you’ll like it, or they know it will benefit you in some way.

So, why the gift of self-care you ask? Why don’t you send a box to a loved one and let their reaction answer your question. (Or treat yourself and see how you feel when you open it!)
